Type Locality and Naming

North-central Shandong. The Shiwangzhuang Fm was named by the Team of Phosphorites of the Comprehensive Brigade of the Bureau of Shandong Geology (1979) and introduced by You Wencheng (1989).. The type section is located in Heishanguan villege, North-Eastwards 300 m, Wutu Town, Changle County, Shandong Province. Coordinate: E119º14´00´´; N36º33´00´´. Uppermost formation in Tumen Gr.

Synonym: (石旺庄组)


Lithology and Thickness

The Shiwangzhuang Fm consists mainly of sandy limestone, limestone and dolomite with molar-tooth structures, interbedded with few shales and with stromatolites. It is 20-200 m thick.

Lower contact

It is conformable onto the underlying Fulaishan Fm

Upper contact

It is disconformably overlain by the Cambrian Changqing Gr

Regional extent

North-central Shandong. It is developed in Anqiu, Weifang and Yishui, Shandong Province.
